Most of the songs on this album were written as words of love and encouragement inspired by God. We would like to share a couple of stories about two of the songs.
Shipwreck tells the story of my friend Sue whose life had consisted of pain, rejection and sickness. Sue's final battle was against cancer. When I visited Sue in hospital her room overlooked the marina at Brighton. The waves were crashing against the walls, but they were unable to harm the boats. They were all safe. We talked of God's Love for her and how He longed to hold and protect her in His arms if she would trust Him. Sue came to know and trust God in a very special way and is now safe in the father's arms, and like the ships in the harbour is no longer able to be battered by the storms of life.
My Daughter written for a little girl named Ashleigh who was born with a rare chromosome deficiency. On the night of Ashleigh's birth Graham and I had been praying for our friend Amelia (not realising Ashleigh would be born that night). God spoke clearly to Graham saying "It's a girl and my feet will go before her". That very evening Ashleigh arrived into this world with two deformed feet. The medical diagnosis known as 18Q- Syndrome means that Ashleigh is severely mentally and physically disabled. A few days after Ashleigh's birth God spoke to her mother words of truth and encouragement. "I have given you this child to love and to cherish and to bring her up to know and trust me." It was these words that inspired this song knowing that God cherished her since the day she was formed. A year later at a healing service God seemed to say that he had chosen to heal Ashleigh. Since that time Ashleigh has continued to make great progress and brings love wherever she goes. We may not understand how and why things happen the way they do but what we do believe is that God is faithful to complete the work that He has begun. Please join us in praying for the continued healing of this precious little girl and that God receives all the glory.
